Tales from the closure...

Wow! Things have been humming around here! The ramp behind the Foster House is being completely rebuilt and various other projects are coming to fruition as we approach the "halfway" mark of the closure. We miss hearing the footsteps and laughter of our visitors, but we relish the opportunity to engage in projects that would otherwise prove obtrusive and distracting to patrons.

When the ramp is finished, I will post pictures of the process and the final product. I think y'all will be impressed! And soon we'll be preparing to begin (re)construction on the Howard Cabin! Details will be forthcoming on that project as well.

So what "closure projects" are YOU currently undertaking?

Our first photos from "The Village Through YOUR Eyes..."

Yay! We've got some great photos from dedicated Village visitors! These are local fans, Jeff and Jordana. Jordana has been a friend of the Village for quite a while, coming to many of our events in costume. We're so pleased to have these photos from an event we had in February of 2007. Thanks for sending them in, Jeanette!

Reminder...you can send us your photos any time and we'll be happy to post them on our blog! We want to see the Village through YOUR eyes!!!

Happy birthday, dear Lincoln...

Abraham Lincoln is drawing a lot of attention this year, and rightfully so. In February, he will turn 200 (yet he doesn't look a day over 190...)! Must be the beard...

Anyhoo...there are a number of web sites and historical sites that are marking this event in exciting and dynamic ways. We wanted to highlight a few for you:

Don't forget...Barack Obama will be sworn in to the United States presidency on January 20, 2009, using the same Bible Lincoln used. What an amazing historical connection!
