You know...we have really cool 19th century buildings, fascinating artifacts, and an amazingly beautiful wooded setting. But you know what we also consider one of our greatest assets? Our PEOPLE! We thought you might enjoy getting to know them better!

...and we know just the man to fix it! Check out this great video of the talented Dan "Five Buckets" Tatum and his coopering skills! Dan just so happens to also be a great volunteer here at the Village. Nice work, Dan!

STRIKE WHILE THE IRON’S HOT!
1-4 p.m.
Experience life before hardware and lumber stores! See the blacksmith hand-forge unique creations, take a turn working wood at the shave horse, and watch trained cooper (barrel/cask/bucket maker) Dan Tatum and members of the Woodturners of North Texas at work. This day is for do-it-yourselfers! Cost is regular Village admission plus a $2 fee to make a wooden mallet to take home.

More great publicity for Log Cabin Village!

Wow! They like us...they really like us! We have been very fortunate to receive some great publicity lately. First, we were featured in the Cozy Cabins 2010 magazine produced by Country's Best Log Homes. Then yesterday, Mike Kinney, a photojournalist with CBS 11, filmed a wonderful story about our popular Pioneer School program!

And because we want to share EVERYTHING with y'all in a convenient fashion, here are both features.

We'd like to pause and take a moment to remember a very special historical interpreter who was with us for only a short time period. Her life and spirit were as unique as the record-breaking snowfall that brought her to us.

Living off the grid...

It's no secret that we love Lehman's. Heck...when you need a butter churn or a spoke shave, they're just the people to turn to!

What I do find exciting is how "modern" this "non-electric" company is. They actively blog and even have their very own YouTube channel... I think y'all will find the videos interesting as they offer glimpses into forgotten ways of life (much as Log Cabin Village does)!

Speaking of the Village, we hope to have more videos of "forgotten arts" posted this fall. Stay tuned!
